Ph.D. Student, Macromolecular Science and Engineering
Yiqun Fu

Yiqun graduated from Qingdao University with a bachelor’s degree and Carnegie Mellon University with a master's degree in Chemical Engineering. Yiqun studied and developed toothpaste formulation and processing while working in Procter & Gamble. Yiqun has worked on protocell as research assistant in Institute of Chemistry at Chinese Academy of Science. He also has project management experiences on chemical plant design & construction as
project engineer and team lead.

Yiqun is interested in developing high performance elastomer and functional polymer materials for Additive Manufacturing. His research scope specifically focuses on vat photopolymerization and direct ink write of colloids to prepare stretchable rubber, high performance elastomeric composites and functional materials. With his contribution of numerical multi-physics simulation and engineering design, he won the 2023 Digital Manufacturing Challenge by Society of Manufacturing Engineers for ‘on-site Additive Manufacturing Water Filtration and Decontamination Device’. Outside of the lab, Yiqun is a Chinese comedy actor and master of ceremonies. He performed in 2022 Blacksburg Chinese ‘Crosstalk’ Comedy and hosted 2021 Mid-autumn Festival Gala, 2022 Spring Festival Gala, 2022 Mid-autumn Festival Gala, 2023 Spring Festival New Year Temple Fair.
